Join HSMAI Georgia Chapter for our annual signature hospitality industry dinner event! Invite your friends, family, and clients to spend an evening bidding on auction items valued from $25 to $1,000+. Toss your quarters in the bucket, waive your numbered auction paddle, listen for the GONG, and be prepared for lots of fun and laughter as we celebrate The Year of the Rat, HSMAI Georgia fashion. Donate items to be auctioned away!

The success of this auction depends on the support of our community. We hope you will consider donating items such as weekend stays for two, spa treatments, gift certificates, dinners or rounds of golf. Any donation will be GREATLY appreciated. You can conveniently print out a Donation Form here or fill out a Online Donation Form. As a donor, you will be recognized on-site and in the Chinese Auction program. Hurry, time is running out! Discounted Room Rate at TWELVE for the Night

Don't feel like driving all the way home after the party? Treat yourself to a wonderful night at the TWELVE hotel. We have contracted with the hotel to offer a discounted rate of $165 for a Deluxe One-Bedroom Suite (normally $229) for the night to Chinese Auction attendees. To make reservations call (404) 961-1212 or book online at www.twelvehotels.com. Be sure to identify yourself at the time of booking either by the event name, HSMAI CURE Childhood Cancer, or the booking code HSCG. Reservations should be made no later than September 3, 2008.

What is a Chinese Auction?

Each attendee will receive a list of donated auction items and a numbered stick. Quarters can be purchased by each attendee so they may bid on items which range from $.25 to $1.00. The auctioneer will ask each attendee to place their quarter in the bucket, located in the middle of each table, if they would like to bid on the item. If the attendee bids on the item, they hold their numbered stick in the air. The auctioneer will begin at random calling out the numbers of the people who bid. Meanwhile, a gonger is on the stage and is unaware of what numbers are being called. Whenever the gonger likes, he bangs the gong. The last number called by the auctioneer wins the item. This continues until all the prizes are won.
